A Peaceful Stroll on Pigeon Island
A Peaceful Stroll on Pigeon Island
Saint Lucia is full of beautiful sites, but among one of the most important and spectacular is Pigeon Island. Formally an island, until the 1970’s when a causeway was built to connect the island to the mainland. Pigeon Island is said to have some of the most incredible views in all of Saint Lucia, as well as a rich historical background to go with it. The former island has been a point of conversation since the 1500’s, when the first settlers used it as a fort to raid passing ships.
Since then it has become a popular hiking destination with quiet lookout points, as well as a great snorkeling spot. Many people enjoy their time on Pigeon Island, because of how peaceful this islet is. If you’re looking to get in some light cardio, amongst fresh island air this is the ideal afternoon plan for you!
