Wedding Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I plan my island wedding?
Interested couples may book their island wedding as far in advance as they’d like in order to meet their desires. However, we often suggest that couples secure their date 6-8 months in advance for the purposes of ensuring that all of the required legal documents are ready and together. We also advise couples to bear in mind that St. Lucia laws require them to be in the country 4 working days prior to their island wedding day.
What time of day is best to host my island wedding?
From our experience, we find that most couples choose to have their island wedding ceremonies between 3-4pm during the summer and 2-3pm during the winter, in order to capitalize on the day light for beautiful wedding photos.
Will there be another island wedding at the resort on the same day as mine?
In order to provide our couples with the best, most personalized service, we’ve developed a “one wedding per property, per day” policy.
What is your maximum capacity for guests?
Our maximum ceremony capacity at the Bay Gardens Beach Resort & Spa is 200 guests and our maximum reception capacity is 250. At the Bay Gardens Hotel, the maximum ceremony and reception capacity is 175 and at the Bay Gardens Inn, the maximum ceremony and reception capacity is 100.
Do you accommodate both civil and religious wedding ceremonies?
Yes. We are more than happy to accommodate whichever style you select in order to exchange your wedding vows.
What sort of services and assistance does will the Island Wedding Coordinator provide me?
Your Island Wedding Coordinator will be your personal on-property wedding guide both before and during the event. In order to ensure your event is executed flawlessly, the Island Wedding Coordinator will be available to answer all queries concerning anything from room reservations to the booking of your wedding ceremony and wedding reception, and will be on site to ensure everything comes together as planned. On your behalf, your Island Wedding Coordinator will liaise with the Marriage Officer, Florist, Entertainer(s), Musician(s), transportation provider(s), wedding cake Baker(s), Photographer(s), Videographer(s) etc. From the very first moment they receive the email or call, they become your personal stewardess until the honeymoon night. They’ll even go further should you require them too.
Can I customize the existing island Wedding packages?
Of course! We have several wedding package add-ons and your Island Wedding Coordinator will be more than happy to work with you on special requests where possible.
Do you offer catering, photography and entertainment services?
We do have the ability to provide catering, photography and entertainment services at an additional fee. Photography and entertainment services will be contracted out to our reliable partners. For details, please fill out our Wedding Inquiry form.
Catering can be done by either of our in-house restaurants at the Bay Gardens Beach Resort & Spa – Trios Caribbean Fusion Restaurant or Hi-Tide Beachside Restaurant – or by Spices Restaurant at the Bay Gardens Hotel.
Can I bring in external catering, photography and/or entertainment services?
Photographers and outside entertainment can be brought in but a walkthrough of the hotel must be conducted by the onsite Island Wedding Coordinator. For catering, we do not permit the use of external services. Catering remains the sole responsibility of the property that will be hosting your event.
What kind of bar options do you offer?
Couples may opt for an all inclusive bar, a cash bar (charged on consumption) or a private personal bar if they wish to supply their own beverages to guests (corkage fees apply).
Do I have to bring my own decorations?
Bringing your own decorations is not a requirement. As a part of our packages, we will decorate your ceremony according to the theme you select; however, decorations for the reception are available at a surcharge. For information about our themes, please contact your Island Wedding Coordinator.
Do you provide the Clergyman or Magistrate? Can I supply my own?

We only ask that you request availability with our Island Wedding Coordinators 14 days prior to the date you wish to wed. Also, please keep in mind that St. Lucia requires couples to be on island for at least 4 working days prior to the day of the wedding ceremony, and that often, legal documents take time to gather together.
How do I select which Bay Gardens property (Hotel, Inn or Beach Resort) to host my island wedding?
While you can expect exceptional customer service, professionalism and warmth from all of our properties, each location is very unique. To better understand which property is most suitable for you visit our, ‘The Resorts‘ page or our Wedding Photos album.
