It’s sometimes said that if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it -there’s nothing in there about improving upon a good thing though

To start off, we removed the restrictions on food & drinks on the all inclusive package at the Bay Gardens Beach Resort; the plan is not limited to house brand drinks and no food items are left out. When you stay seven nights or more at any of our properties, you can expect all of these fantastic inclusions:

  • Free taxis service on arrival and departure from the airport of your choice – a saving of up to US$180
  • One included spa treatment per person from our centre of relaxation and rejuvenation, LaMer Spa
  • A Bay Gardens Starter pack which includes a lovely selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and snacks
  • Automatic entry into our dine around program where for three nights during your stay, you can eat at up to five (and growing) first class specialty restaurants nearby
  • Unlimited non-motorized water sports

One minor detail that you might find important…we’ve reduced the prices! The supplemental fee is US$100 at the Bay Gardens Beach Resort and US$85 at the Bay Gardens Hotel or Inn (rates are per person, per night). We’ve also tweaked our Modified American Plan a bit, learn more here.

Our Dine Around program has been around for a couple months now and we think it’s a great opportunity for you to enjoy Rodney Bay’s best spots for dining. We’ve carefully selected five speciality restaurants that we believe truly give you a delicious culinary range of flavours your palate can truly appreciate.

Taking advantage of the Dine Around program is free if you have added an all inclusive or modified American meal plan to your accommodation and are staying seven nights or more. Sanovnik Destang

The Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA) was founded over 50 years ago as a representative body for the interests of the hospitality industry’s private sector in the Caribbean region. The CHTA covers 36 national hotel associations in the region and over 600 hotel members with approximately 91,000 rooms, in addition to ‘allied’ members – more than 300 supplier companies.

New President of the CHTA, Emil Lee, appointed Sanovnik Destang (our Executive Director) as one of the Regional Vice Presidents to serve during his tenure from 2014 – 2016. Mr. Lee expressed confidence in his decision to appoint Sanovnik to this role based on his proven track record and sees the CHTA benefiting immensely from his experience and practical approach to all things hospitality related.

It would seem that Sanovnik is poised to fill the big (and no doubt stylish) shoes of our very own Senator Berthia Parle who served as the first female President of the CHTA from 2004 – 2006.

Look out for our Creole Day (Jounen Kwéyòl) events this month


Jounen Kwéyòl

Creole Heritage month is celebrated in St. Lucia and the world in the month of October. It’s a month where we remember, observe and commemorate our Creole history is a number of ways.

On island, the month culminates with a grand Creole Day celebration held on the last Sunday of October. Our Creole, a mix of English, French and some African dialects, is perhaps spoken more on this day than any other day in the year. We flock to various venues across St. Lucia to partake in cultural and culinary displays of days past and immerse ourselves in this fully.

Bay Gardens Resorts has, for a number of years now, been on the map for Creole Day celebrations. We’ve got two exciting events planned on the big day. A Boullion Ste. Lucie brunch at the Bay Gardens Beach Resort featuring a full buffet with nothing but the best culturally inspired dishes in a seaside sit down at the Hi Tide restaurant with live entertainment. The Bay Gardens Hotel offers a more traditional approach, a street fair which starts off from 7am with breakfast and continues throughout the day offering more and more scrumptious bites that will remind or introduce your taste buds to a bit of our proud heritage.

Community Corner – World Tourism Day


Community Corner

As declared by the United Nations, September 27 was recognized as World Tourism Day. The St. Lucia & Tourism Association (SLHTA) extended a request to its members (Bay Gardens Resorts included) to organize activities that would have a meaningful effect on our wider neighbourhood. These had to be in the area of tourism sensitization and a beautification project.

Our sensitization activity took the form of something we’ve done previously and quite enjoy. We invited some students from two nearby schools – our adopted school, the Monchy R.C. Primary School and the Gros Islet Primary School – for a tour of our hotels and a talk to create awareness in their young minds. We wanted to create awareness of the benefits of tourism and sustainable practices to protect and conserve our environment and tourism industry for future generations.

We joined in with a number of other nearby hotels for a beautification project in Rodney Bay. With funding from the SLHTA’s Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) and the kind donations of meals from its hotel members (including us) the project was carried out on September 28. TEF branded garbage receptacles were placed along the Rodney Bay strip and a thorough cleaning was carried out in the area.

We really want to thank our all of our team members who voluntarily participated in the activity and made it a real success.

 

Team Member Spotlight – Richie Fevrier

You simply can’t discount the role of a good breakfast as an essential start to your day. With most of our rates now including breakfast for the Bay Gardens Hotel and Bay Gardens Inn, many of you will meet this young man at some point during your stay with us.

Richie Fevrier has worked with us as a breakfast cook for nearly four years, a job he truly enjoys. Though it’s not always easy working out a balanced and nutritious menu, coupled with getting it ready for some of our super early risers at 7am he truly is passionate about what he does. He holds true to his belief that no matter what cooking method is utilized, a warm smile, speed and efficiency make all the difference to his guests.

His love for the kitchen extends past our doors, where he owns his own cheesecake and catering company – where does he find the time? We thank you Richie for continuing to contribute to good days for our guests.
